OUR MISSION

Facilitating the pre-settlement and integration of all new immigrants arriving in Canada through the Vancouver International Airport.

OUR GOAL

To support newcomers by offering multilingual services, information & orientation, and referrals to newcomer-Serving Provider Organizations throughout Canada—helping reduce the time and stress often involved in the initial stages of settlement. Through our orientation, we also help newcomers learn about life in Canada and understand their rights and responsibilities.

History and Background

The program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and its services are provided by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., a major settlement and community services organization with over 40 locations in Canada and Asia. Since 1992, CANN has provided services to over 1.1 million newcomers arriving in Canada through the Vancouver International Airport. CANN also began providing services to government-assisted and privately-sponsored refugees in 1997.

  • Information & orientation on settling in Canada, including medical insurance, education for adults and children, employment, accreditation, business, housing, and more

  • Linking newcomers to national settlement and integration resources 

  • Enhanced support is provided based on need for government-assisted and privately-sponsored refugees

Delivery methods

CANN leverages secure digital systems to deliver customized settlement information and referrals tailored to the unique needs of each newcomer. In addition to receiving selected information and services in-person at the CANN kiosk, newcomers can also access mobile content and an electronic kiosk located inside the immigration landing room. Up-to-date information related to relevant workshops and events in the community is also provided to newcomers via follow-up emails and is available on the CANN website.

Location and Hours of Operation

The CANN kiosk is located in the immigration landing room of the international arrivals area at the Vancouver International Airport and is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm seven days a week, except for statutory holidays. Operating hours are often extended to provide assistance to government-assisted and privately-sponsored refugees.
